BCPA’s Board of Directors oversees the strategic, financial and operational sustainability of the organization. Our volunteer board members are all knowledgeable business professionals, four of which have a spinal cord injury.

Tony joined the BCPA Board in 2011 and is president and CEO of CGA-Canada. Prior to that, he was president of Avon Canada and spent a decade with that company in several key financial management positions. A certified public accountant (DE), Tony served on the Conference Board of Canada’s National Council of Financial Executives. In 2008, he received the 100 CGAs Who Have Made a Difference Award, as part of CGA-Canada’s centennial celebration.
Lise joined the Board in 2006 and is the Clinical Nurse Specialist with the Vancouver General Hospital’s Spine Program, as well as National Clinical Coordinator for the RHSCI Registry. She is also a consultant for the Clinical Impact on Nurse and Allied Health for the Vancouver Spine Program Clinical Research Studies.
Bernie joined the BCPA Board in 2002 and has served as a director of the BC Paraplegic Foundation since 1990, currently holding the position of Chairperson. A chartered accountant and valuator by profession, he is president of a financial consulting company.
David joined the BCPA Board in 2008, but has been active with the organization since the 1970′s. A Vice-President and Investment Advisory with CIBC Wood Gundy, he has assisted the BC Paraplegic Foundation in managing their investment portfolio for over 20 years. For the past four years, David has chaired, very successfully, the annual Doug Mowat Memorial Golf Tournament.
Laurie is Managing Director of KinleyJones, a Vancouver based marketing, advertising and design firm which specializes in retail and institutional clients. In addition to his professional responsibilities, Laurie is an Instructor at BCIT in Marketing Management and a member of the School’s Marketing Management Curriculum Advisory Committee. He is also a partner in the Royal Bank of Canada’s Viasource Program. Laurie joined the BCPA Board in 2006 and currently holds the position of Secretary.
Injured in 1978, Terry has been a strong advocate for access awareness and was recognized for his efforts with the Dr. James Reid Memorial Award in 1993. Following studies at BCIT, he taught computer aided design and drafting at the school. Terry currently keeps extremely busy with volunteer work supporting disability organizations such as BCPA, where he serves as both a Board member and a peer mentor to newly injured individuals.
Scott joined the BCPA Board in 2008 and was elected Vice-Chair in 2010. He is the Communications Director for WorkSafe BC, with over 30 years experience in this field for both the public and private sectors. Very active in the community, Scott also advises for various health and safety regulators and workers’ compensation organizations.
Ed joined the BCPA Board in 2000 and served as Vice-Chair from 2005 to 2010, at which time he became Chairperson. A professional engineer, he is owner and president of West Shore Constructors. Ed has been active on the BCPA advocacy committee and also served as member of the Lions Paralodge Board.
Jeff has been a member of the BCPA Board since 1986, serving as Vice Chair from 1996 until 2005, and Chairperson for five years following. The owner of a busy real estate management company, Jeff has been very active with our organization provincially and at the national level, having served on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Paraplegic Association since 1996.
Chuck joined the BCPA Board of Directors in 1996 and has held the position of Treasurer since that time. A busy member of the legal profession, Chuck has been very active on BCPA committees and has recently become involved at the national level as well.
Gerry has been a member of the BCPA Board of Directors since 2002 and is a passionate advocate for people with disabilities. A resident of Vancouver Island, Gerry designs and markets adaptive devices for the disabled community.
Injured as the result of a logging accident in 1994, Tom has served on the BCPA Board since 1999. A resident of Hope, he is very active in community disability issues with particular interest in advocating for increased architectural accessibility.
Roy is retired after thirty-five years as a Vancouver firefighter, having received the Long Service and Distinguished Service Medals. He has also been decorated for his commitment and length of service to the South Vancouver Lions Club and his work as a first aid attendant and instructor. Roy’s long and varied volunteer experience illustrates a life of community commitment, including his service on BCPA’s Board of Directors and that of Lions Millennium Place.
Rhonda is the Medical Manager of the Spinal Cord Injury Program, Amputee Program and EMG at the GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre in Vancouver. She is also a Clinical Instructor for the Department of Medicine – Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at GF Strong. She joined the BCPA Board of Directors in 2009.
